Our Guides - link
All our guides are fully qualified members of the IFMGA - the highest internationally recognised qualification for mountain and ski guiding. Their badge is recognised throughout the mountain world is your guarantee of a Guides professional training and competence in all aspects of mountaineering and client care. Many of our guides either live in the European Alps year round or spend the majority of the summer and winter season guiding the high alpine mountains.

Valley based accommodation
We have not included accommodation in the package to allow you to choose a style you are comfortable with. There are many hotels, apartment and studios in Chamonix and Les Houches. We can assist you in making your accommodation booking if you wish. For your stay in the valley we can recommend high quality, clean, comfortable and friendly accommodation.

Mountain hut accommodation
These refuges are placed high in the mountains allowing continuous mountain travel or a good early start for your trip the following morning. The surroundings are often spectacular, especially at sunset and sunrise. The comfort and quality of mountain huts will vary, but they will all give a basic and welcome standard of overnight comfort. The atmosphere is always friendly, generating a great sense of camaraderie. The sleeping arrangements are dormitory style. Note: Alpine club membership gives a reduction for the hut fees. Around eight nights in Alpine huts will cover your membership costs.

Your Safety
Whilst every effort is made to ensure your safety in the mountains you must be aware that when participating in mountain activities there is an increased element of risk. Your guide has the right to cancel or curtail your participation on a particular trip or course if she / he feels that you are posing a potential danger to yourself or other members of the group.

Insurance
Most "normal" travel insurance policies will not give you the full and specific cover you need! It is mandatory that you have medical and rescue cover. You will get basic cover through joining an Alpine Club, but you must check the territorial limits and ensure that you are satisfied with amount of cover that is provided. Most people take out one of the insurances that we have links to on our links page.

Equipment
There is certain specialist equipment you will need for each course you can either provide your own, hire or buy it here, if you are in doubt as to its suitability of a piece of equipment please check with us either before you arrive or on arrival. We have a stock of equipment that is available for you to hire whilst you are on your holiday. You can be assured that all the equipment we own is of a very high quality and in good working order. If you would like a list of all the equipment required on your course (kit list) see the equipment lists page. If you have any specific enquires relating to equipment please do not hesitate to contact us.

Health And Fitness
Be realistic about your fitness, level of skill and your limitations and try not to book on a course that could (may) be too challenging or too stressful. It is recommended that in the weeks leading up to your course or holiday you should undertake a regular exercise programme that will build your fitness up gradually.

Age minimum / maximum
We have no age limits but if you are under the age of 18 years, please enquire directly before booking. If you are accepted on a holiday or course you will be required to provide signed consent from a parent or guardian? You must consider your age, level of fitness, stamina and ability relative to the holiday or course you wish to participate in.

Smoking
We do not have a no-smoking policy but it is expected that smokers will respect the wishes of other members of the holiday or course and refrain from smoking in vehicles, shared bedrooms and at meal times.

Special requests / needs
If you have any special requests or needs, they should be clearly stated at the point of booking. It is also the responsibility of the individual to re-confirm these requests on arrival.
